This is a really nice old children's book illustrated by the author. This is the story of things that are, a real life story of a large lively family. The father is a dust man and the mother is a washerwoman, but just because they are poor, the children find greater opportunities for adventure and diversion in the course of their ordinary lives. Kate Win scholarship and was faced with awful clothes problems. She also went on a Never to Be forgotten outing to the sea. Jim became, with all due ceremony, a member of the gang of the Black Hand. In Duty bound to seek adventure, he found himself in a quiet thrilling situation from which, luckily, he emerged triumphant. Even baby William provided his own moment of glory what he won a prize at the baby show. This book was awarded the Carnegie medal as the best children's book of 1937.
