Mother Goose: The Old Nursery Rhymes, Volume One

Illustrated by Arthur Rackham

William Heinemann, 1952 Hardback

This 1952 hardback volume brings together the old nursery rhymes in the company of Arthur Rackham, one of the best-loved illustrators of the golden age of children's books. The photographs show Rackham's colour plates for Jack and Jill and Bye, baby bunting, and a title page decorated with silhouettes of children dancing hand in hand around a bare winter tree.

The cream front cover carries a charming blue line illustration of a little girl in a flowered hat standing among the shrubs, with the title, 'Illustrated by Arthur Rackham' and William Heinemann Ltd printed in blue. The spine reads 'Mother Goose — The Old Nursery Rhymes, Vol. I'.
